Local food businesses have had training on up-to-date allergy rules.
More than 80 Rossendale food and drink businesses attended the workshops run by Rossendale Borough Council’s Environmental Health Department.
There has been a dramatic increase in allergic diseases in recent years. The aims of the sessions were to give local businesses the confidence when working with food products and serving customers with food allergies.

The Bacup Now Easter Festival is on its way with a massive line-up for kids big and small.
Taking place on Saturday, April 20th, from 10am to 4pm at Bacup Market and on Irwell Terrace, there will be the traditional Britannia Coconut Dancers Easter Boundary Dance, a chance to meet ‘Star Wars’ characters and performances by Dansworks Dance Academy of Performing Arts and The Rossendale Drum Majorettes.

A pensioner has been ordered to pay more than £300 after he was recorded disposing of his dog waste in the river six times.
Geoffrey Wright of Lee Road, Bacup, was caught throwing the waste between 12th and 14th October 2018. He has ordered to pay £200 legal costs to Rossendale Borough Council and £133.34 for investigations costs.

Funding has been granted to Rossendale Borough Council to install electric charge points for taxis.
The Department for Transport has announced it will provide £630K across Lancashire in funding to support ultra-low emission taxis – with four charging points to be installed across Rossendale.
The successful bid will see the installation of 24 charge points – four per council area – across Lancashire.

Local organisations are invited to apply for a grant of up to £750 from the Fund before the deadline of February 22nd.
The Rossendale Community Fund was created by Rossendale Borough Council in partnership with the Community Foundation for Lancashire to offer grants to support projects that help families, children and young people engage in community activities and learning.

People dropping litter, flytipping and dog fouling in Rossendale have been hit by fines following the introduction of a specialist enforcement team.
The on-the spot-fines have been issued by District Enforcement, which started a 12-month trial across Rossendale on December 3rd.
Dedicated officers will patrol the borough’s streets and parks seven days a week, targeting hot-spots identified by the Council.

A business owner has been ordered to pay £405 following a row over shop shutters.
Syeda Monzu Uddin, owner of Haslingden Food Store, appeared at Burnley Magistrates Court charged with non-compliance with an Enforcement Notice and was fined £200 with costs of £175 and a victim surcharge of £30.
Action was taken by Rossendale Council in August to remove roller shutters from the Haslingden Food Store after the owner did not comply with an order to take the shutters down.
