People dropping litter, flytipping and dog fouling in Rossendale have been hit by fines following the introduction of a specialist enforcement team.
The on-the spot-fines have been issued by District Enforcement, which started a 12-month trial across Rossendale on December 3rd.
Dedicated officers will patrol the borough’s streets and parks seven days a week, targeting hot-spots identified by the Council.

A developer’s prompt action in complying with an enforcement notice has been welcomed by Rossendale Council.
In November, the Council issued a notice to Heron Homes which is converting a former church in Edenfield to apartments.
A condition of the planning application being approved was for the developer to retain the stained glass windows at the front of the church.

Rossendale Council could bring in a private company to crack down on littering, flytipping and dog fouling.
A proposed 12-month trial would allow private enforcement officers from the firm District Enforcement to issue on-the-spot fines across the borough for the offences.

Unsafe taxis were taken off the road during a Council led crackdown at Manchester Airport.
The team gave out ten notices to drivers licensed by Rossendale for minor defects on their taxis and suspended four vehicles on the spot for serious defects including one which had a bald tyre.
Operations such as this one are vital ways of ensuring taxi drivers are meeting safety requirements to protect the health and safety of the public.

Rossendale Borough Council’s Licencing Enforcement Team have secured a conviction in Court for a hackney carriage licence driver who failed to declare a conviction.
Shahid Javaid, of Arnold St, Huddersfield, pleaded guilty on August 19th at Burnley Magistrates Court to Fraud by False Representation. He was fined £80 in total and was ordered to pay £150 costs.

Rossendale Council’s Planning Enforcement Team has today served notice on the outdoor laundrette structure at the Nisa Store on Deardengate, Haslingden.
This action comes after thorough investigation from our Planning Department.
The owner has now been asked to remove the launderette facility from the front of the building within the required timeframe.

Rossendale Borough Council recently conducted Operation Considerate in Manchester City Centre in April. |
Working alongside Greater Manchester Police we stopped and checked 11 Rossendale licensed vehicles.
Of these vehicles, 3 were suspended, 2 were given defect notices and 3 were given written warning on smoking and children in the front seat.

Rossendale Borough Council and Leeds City Council team up to conduct joint enforcement activity on Taxis in Leeds city centre. |
Enforcement Teams from Rossendale and Leeds Councils worked from 20:00 – 04:30 hours on Friday 20 May 2016 to stop and check taxis.
6 Rossendale licensed vehicles were stopped and dealt with.
