Council’s climate change mission takes root with 1,000 trees planted in Rossendale

Rossendale Council’s tree planting initiative Rossendale Forest has successfully planted more than 1,000 trees in the borough this week.

The council declared a climate emergency and, as part of a raft of measures to help combat climate change, has pledged to plant 16,000 over the next three years. That’s one for every child in the borough, with the first 6,000 being planted by April 2022.

Real Christmas tree collection

Rossendale Council will collect your real Christmas tree for just £5.

Any Rossendale residents who will need to dispose of their real Christmas tree in January can organise a collection from the Council.

You can call now to book a collection spot for a maximum of two trees per booking.

No artificial trees, ornaments, tinsel, garlands or lights will be collected.

Green progress for taxi trips in Rossendale

Funding has been granted to Rossendale Borough Council to install electric charge points for taxis.

The Department for Transport has announced it will provide £630K across Lancashire in funding to support ultra-low emission taxis – with four charging points to be installed across Rossendale.

The successful bid will see the installation of 24 charge points – four per council area – across Lancashire.
