Rossendale Council’s Environmental Heath Team are working together with the Housing Options Team to improve the living standards in private rented property.
The Council’s Environmental Health Team have recently started inspecting property prior to a bond being given.
The result of this joint work has been improvements to the property whilst its unoccupied, to make it safer for future tenants.

We have been receiving and increased number of complaints regarding odours from HGV’s travelling through the Valley.
These vehicles are carrying material from a commercial composting company in Calderdale. The material is classed as a type of compost and is used by farmers to improve their land. The material is produced under a Permit from the Environment Agency, the only control on vehicles leaving the site is that they must be covered up before they leave site.

Rossendale Borough Council’s Environmental Health Team has successfully worked with residents and neighbours of a property that was creating a serious public health issue.
The Council’s Environmental Health Team received reports of a leaking soil stack (see photo 1) at first floor level in a property. When an Environmental Health Officer visited there was toilet waste and tissue paper down the back wall of the house.
