Food allergy training updates for Rossendale businesses

Local food businesses have had training on up-to-date allergy rules.

More than 80 Rossendale food and drink businesses attended the workshops run by Rossendale Borough Council’s Environmental Health Department.

There has been a dramatic increase in allergic diseases in recent years. The aims of the sessions were to give local businesses the confidence when working with food products and serving customers with food allergies.

We are supporting National Food Safety Week (June 4 to 10) which this year is thanking the council environmental health officers who inspect local food businesses to ensure hygiene standards are met.

Dog owner fined for not removing dog waste

A man was fined over £1,000 for repeatedly failing to clear up his dogs’ mess.

Matt Scott, 41, of Hud Rake, Haslingden, was ordered to pay a fine of £660, with £435 costs and a £66 victim surcharge at Burnley Magistrates Court.

Scott was prosecuted by Rossendale Borough Council for letting the waste of his two dogs accumulate on decking behind his house over a period of six months

He had failed to observe an abatement notice served by a Council Environmental Health Officer in June and as a result was prosecuted.
