Affordable Warmth Funding available to heat homes in Rossendale

Rossendale Council are encouraging residents who are struggling to keep their homes warm to check their eligibility for a grant from the Affordable Warmth Fund. 

The fund which is managed by Homewise, a registered charity which provides impartial help and advice on all aspects of home improvements, repairs and maintenance, can offer funding for items ranging from boiler replacement to draft proofing measures.

Business thanks for grants

Businesses across the borough have been receiving the Government grants distributed by Rossendale Borough Council.

The grants started to be distributed on Aril 1st and the majority of firms that applied have now received their funds.

The Council has been receiving messages of thanks from businesses for the help given by officers, not only in getting the grants out but in offering help and advice to those in need.

First business payments out today for Rossendale firms

Rossendale Borough Council has started to send out Government grant payments to local businesses affected by the coronavirus.

Following the package of support announced by the Government for those affected by the restrictions and closures put in place in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Council contacted businesses to promote access to the grant, and received the funds from Government on Wednesday, 1st April in order to pay the grant.

Flooding grants

Following on from Storm Dennis and Storm Ciara, there has been some confusion over grants and compensation for people affected by flooding and storm damage.

Any compensation comes from a Government scheme – the Flood Recovery Framework. This is for local council areas that had been significantly impacted.

The criteria for who is eligible for funding is determined by the government not Rossendale Council.

Grants available to support local groups

Grants of up to £750 are available to help provide activities for children, young people and families.

The deadline for the latest round of applications to the Rossendale Community Fund is October 8.

The fund was set up by Rossendale Borough Council in partnership with the Community Foundation for Lancashire. It offers grants to support projects which help children, young people and families people to get involved in community activities and learning.

Neighbourhood Forum Grants 2016/17 – Deadline Approaching

A further round of Neighbourhood Forum Grants applications will be considered before the end of March.   

There are funds remaining in the Neighbourhood Forum Grants budget for 2016/17 so a further round of applications will be considered.

Neighbourhood Forums can give grants of up to £500 to external organisations that can provide added value to the residents of the Borough.

Rossendale Council Grants 2017/18 and 2018/19 Application Process Opens

Following Cabinet approval in November, Rossendale Borough Council has opened the application process for Rossendale Council Grants.  

Cllr Alyson Barnes, Leader of the Council said;

“We recognise that these are difficult times for many people and there are some key challenges for Rossendale residents.  Although the Council still has to make savings, we have made £62,000 available each year for the next 2 years for the provision of targeted grants for services to support financial inclusion in Rossendale, and for small community grants through the Neighbourhood Forums.”

Flood Resilience Grants Reminder

People affected by December’s floods are being urged to take advantage of a Government scheme to help householders and businesses make their properties more resistant to future floods.

Under the scheme, householders and businesses affected by Storms Desmond and Eva can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to help make their homes more resilient to flooding in the future.
