Today, people in Rossendale have been marking Lancashire Day, the annual event to celebrate the great red rose county.
The leader of the Council, Councillor Alyson Barnes, released the following statement to mark the day:
“Happy Lancashire day everyone. Lancashire is a very special place but I firmly believe Rossendale is the most special of all the boroughs in this beautiful county.
“We are a fiercely proud but friendly people here. We have many great assets and features. We are steeped in history and heritage but we are also forward-thinking and do move with the times. Of course, we have challenges but I truly believe that despite the tough times we have faced and will continue to face, we are moving in the right direction. We are a borough on the up.”
