Holocaust Memorial Day takes place today and is a chance for people across the world to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, the millions of people killed under Nazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Marking the day, Council leader Alyson Barnes said:
Today we pay tribute to all the victims of the murderous Nazi regime, where all the institutions of state were geared towards the extermination of Jewish men, women and children and other deemed unworthy of life.
