Grants Secure the Future of VIC

Three grants have been awarded to Veterans In Communities to secure projects over the  coming years.

Their long-term funder the East Lancashire NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has
approved a further grant for two years – a total of £160,000 – while £8,000 has been agreed by ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity and £21,710 from Heywood Middleton and Rochdale Social
Investment Fund.

VIC Shortlisted for Prestigious Award

Veterans In Communities, based in Haslingden, are in the running for national award as they have been shortlisted for a prestigious national Soldiering On Award.

Chief Executive Liz Hamilton said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to be selected as finalists for  these prestigious awards. As a small local charity we never thought we would get this far.

Civic Pride Are Bloomin’ Marvellous

On Friday 28th October at the Britain in Bloom Award Ceremony , Civic Pride were finally made aware of how much the Royal Horticultural Society were prepared to recognise the dedication, inspiration and sheer hard graft shown by all their hardworking volunteers and supporters.

Eight members of Civic Pride travelled to Southport to learn their fate and this is how their day went…

After coffee we took our places at the lunch table whilst winners of specific competitions were announced – including Best Newcomer, Civic Pride Rawtenstall!

Community Column: Britain in Bloom Judging

If you were in Rawtenstall last Thursday morning (July 21st) you may have seen a group of individuals in Civic Pride hi-vis jackets walking around admiring the gardens. Judgement Day 21.7.'16-7-EditWhat was remarkable was that they weren’t weeding, planting, digging, pruning, sweeping up or picking litter which is what they’ve been doing day after day, in all weathers for many weeks during the lead up to Britain in Bloom!

Free Central Heating for Lancashire Residents

Lancashire residents are being encouraged to winter-proof their homes before the cold kicks in.

Homeowners and tenants across the county are now able to apply into a new fund to provide first time central heating systems to properties across the county.

The £2.25m pot is expected to supply and fit 900 new central heating systems before the start of the autumn, with “fuel poor” residents living in all areas of the red rose county eligible to apply.
