Rossendale Borough Council has secured £50,000 to provide Rossendale residents with little or no cost insulation and brand new A-rated boilers.
It may be summer now but it’s never too early to start preparing for the colder weather.
Qualifying residents in Rossendale could receive funding towards the costs of home heating upgrades and insulation measures to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce their fuel bills.
The Affordable Warmth Grant provides funding for residents eligible for first-time central heating, boiler upgrades, radiator repairs and gas fire replacements.
There is also funding towards the costs of loft and cavity wall insulation, helping residents keep warm for less.
The Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme is providing additional funds to the scheme for certain residents.
The scheme is particularly focussed on helping vulnerable residents in Rossendale who may be in or at risk of fuel poverty as a result of extremely high energy bills.

Residents can qualify for different levels of funding dependant on their circumstances, which include receiving means tested benefits or having high energy bills in relation to their income.
Residents that are either elderly, have a young family, or a health condition made worse by the cold, could also qualify.
Councillor Steve Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Customers at Rossendale Borough Council, said:
This scheme will help Rossendale residents cut the amount of money they spend on their energy bills which will ease financial pressures and improve the comfort of their homes.
By supporting householders with our grant, we are hoping to see an improvement in home heating facilities throughout the borough which will make homes warm and cosy.
The grants will help people in Rossendale improve their health and wellbeing, particularly during cold winters.”
The scheme is managed by award winning Community Interest Company YES Energy Solutions on behalf of Rossendale Borough Council.
Installations will be completed through YES Energy Solutions’ network of accredited local contractors.
Residents who feel they may qualify for the scheme are advised to call YES Energy Solutions on 01422 880100.
