Thursday’s usual trading day on Rawtenstall Market was like no other…a hero was named live on ITV!
Jack Buckley was surprised by ITV’s Jake Quickenden at Rawtenstall Market has he was named a Kelly’s Hero live on the Lorraine Kelly Show.
Just over a year ago, Jack, a plumber from Rossendale, took the brave and risky decision to and be a live donor for close family friend Pat Foden-Purser who needed the life-saving liver surgery after being diagnosed with polycystic liver disease 14 years ago. Jack underwent the operation and donated 66.6% of his liver to Pat.
Jack’s super proud mum, Jackie Buckley, a stall holder on Rawtenstall Market, nominated him for a Kelly’s Heroes award as his selfless act has given her dear friend Pat a new lease of life and his family and friends are all incredibly proud of him.
The surgery was a success for Jack and Pat, and shortly after coming round from his operation last year, Jack popped the question to his girlfriend Evelyn, who of course said yes!
