People can now have their say on how Lancashire County Council will shape a £50 million levelling up bid which aims to bring investment to the east of the county.
To support jobs and businesses, provide for a greener environment, and improve the health of residents, the council is applying to the government’s Levelling Up Fund and is asking local people to get involved in shaping these proposals.

Council Leaders from across Lancashire have made an historic pledge to work together to deliver a bold vision for a County Deal to benefit the people of Lancashire.
Rossendale is keen to be part of Lancashire’s emerging County Deal with central Government. The Deal would see potentially billions of pounds being devolved from Whitehall to Lancashire for the councils to spend on local priorities.

The leader of Rossendale Council has asked Lancashire County Council to rethink its decision to keep the recycling centre in Haslingden closed despite others in the county reopening.
Councillor Alyson Barnes said she welcomed news county were reopening centres but said she was left very disappointed when it was confirmed Rossendale”s one would not be among them.

Comment from Rossendale Borough Council Leader Councillor Alyson Barnes on the funding proposals to improve traffic and air quality on St Mary’s Way, including the gyratory, in Rawtenstall. The issue will be discussed at a Lancashire County Council Cabinet meeting on Thursday, January 16th.
It is part of the report on the Proposed Submission to the Department for Transport’s Local Pinch Point Fund.

The Leader of Rossendale Council has expressed her delight after the latest section of the Valley of Stone was officially.
A procession of over 400 cyclists and walkers celebrated the opening of a new section of the East Lancashire Cycleway in Waterfoot.
Work has recently been completed to reopen two railway tunnels which have been out of use for decades, and extend an existing path, to create a safe and interesting off-road link between Stacksteads Riverside Park and Newchurch Road.

Rossendale Council has expressed its concerns over proposals to end two vital services.
Lancashire County Council’s Cabinet meets today (Thursday, June 13) to discuss proposals to end the Lancashire Wellbeing Service and the Integrated Home Improvement Service.

Responding to the proposals which are set to be agreed following a consultation, Councillor Steve Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Customer Services, said:
“Of course, we understand the county council is facing serious financial challenges and have to make tough decisions but we believe these proposed reductions in prevention services, if agreed, will create severe issues for some of our borough’s most vulnerable residents and will increase demand on the health and care services in the future.

Work is due to take place overnight to complete the final stages of a scheme to upgrade the centre of Bacup with smart new paving and improved pedestrian crossing facilities.
Some roads around St James Square will be closed to allow them to be resurfaced, and new lines to be painted.

Pupils, council workers and members of the public in Rossendale literally went the extra mile to help take Lancashire around the world.
They took part in the Your Mile Your Way Challenge to complete a mile any way they could – from walking, running, swimming and cycling to dancing or even hula hooping.
