Voters who want to have their say in this year’s general election must register today – Monday, May 22.

The election takes place next month on June 8 and locally voters will cast their ballots to elect an MP for Rossendale and Darwen.

While the deadline to register to vote is 11.59pm on May 22, the deadline to register for a postal vote is 5pm on May 23, and the deadline to register for a proxy vote is 5pm on May 31.

Anyone who is already registered to vote does not need to re-register.

Those who register to vote by post will receive a postal pack around May 25.  People applying for a new postal vote will not have their postal pack issued until May 30.
