A lot of interest is being shown in the Great British Spring Clean between March 22nd and April 23rd and Civic Pride Rossendale welcome anything that highlights the scourge of litter and inspires people to roll up their sleeves and get picking!
Civic Pride volunteers are out there 365 days a year clearing our streets and open spaces so, in addition to organising their own mass litter pick, they’re helping out with two others as well.
“It’s great to see new groups starting and also to join McDonalds who have been so supportive of our work’”, stated Roger Grimshaw, Civic Pride Vice Chair.
Strong footwear with a good grip recommended for all events. Other equipment will be provided. Dress for the weather – waterproofs, sun cream, warm clothing!
On Saturday March 30, 10-12pm, Roger Roundell (CP Litter Officer) will be leading a group to tackle Taylor Avenue at Edgeside down to Wales Road, Waterfoot. Meet at the car park at the junction of Taylor Avenue and Wales Road.
On Tuesday April 2 we’ll be joining McDonalds staff between 10am-12pm. Meet at McDonalds Rawtenstall.
On Saturday April 6 Kirsty Stoddard is organising a session at 1pm in Cowpe. Meet at Cowpe Sunday School. All welcome and free tea and coffee!
“Much of our work is carried out by Lone Rangers”, said Roger Roundell. “These volunteers go out at a time and place to suit themselves and make such a difference to our valley.”
