The leader of Rossendale Council has welcomed Lancashire County Council’s latest update on reopening the borough’s recycling centre in Haslingden.
Lancashire County Council has announced it is putting plans in place to reopen the centres but no firm details have been outlined yet.
Councillor Alyson Barnes said:
“A lot of residents have raised with me that they feel Haslingden recycling centre should be open especially as there appears to be a rise in flytipping.
“I fully understand it was a difficult decision to make to close it and it’s equally a difficult decision to re-open. The government have suggested that they should reopen but of course only if social distancing rules can be maintained.
“Obviously safety of residents and staff is paramount but measures can be put in place so the centres can be safely opened as have happened in other areas. I look forward to hearing further about Lancashire County Council’s plans to get Haslingden operating in some capacity.”
