In the final chapter of a weekly series of blogs, Cllr Steve Hughes, Executive Member Champion for IT, shares some final thoughts ahead of the launch of Rossendale Council’s new website.
There’s just one day to go before we launch our brand new website.
Going live tomorrow, Wednesday August 9, the new site features a re-jigged layout – with an A-Z of services – that makes it quicker and easier for residents to access the information they need.
With a clean, uncluttered look, we have reconsidered how services are grouped and displayed; with everything now represented by icons on the homepage.
The new site marks a shift towards us becoming more accessible with round the clock access online; the payments system allowing for 24-hour secure online payment for a range of Council services including Council Tax, ordering a green bin, bulky item collection and pest control appointments.
Reporting problems or accessing planning, environment or council tax services will be easier than ever before too with the addition of new online forms.
The launch of the new website is the first part of the Council’s digital transformation strategy. Soon we will be expanding access to more of our services online, replacing all printable forms with online versions, and joining up services with an improved ‘My Account’ facility, and much more.
The transition over to the new website will be seamless for residents but if you registered to use services on the old website you will be required to re-register on the new site but the process will be simple and quick.
The new website is compatible with smart phones and tablets as well as on a laptop or PC, so residents will be able to do what they need to when and where it’s most convenient. I really hope you enjoy using it.
