Bacup High Street Heritage Action Zone is holding a training seminar on 13 March at ABD Centre in Bacup, to give advice and guidance on caring for heritage properties.
The session which has been arranged in conjunction with Valley Heritage, will run for two hours from 10.30am and will demonstrate how to maintain paintwork, gutters, ironmongery and stonework; give advice on appropriate cleaning approaches and products for your property and advise on how to prevent building issues before they arise.

Rossendale Borough Council have presented revised proposals for Bacup Market Square to the Bacup 2040 Vision Board.
The new proposed redevelopment of Bacup Market Square includes a new market hall, which will include a permanent food area, as well as spaces for traditional market traders.
There will also be a new temporary market space, which will be used by regular traders as well as for special events.

Rossendale Borough Council is asking the public for feedback on proposals to improve Bacup’s public realm.
Bacup received over £1.18 million of Historic England funding as part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone project. The key outcomes of the project are upgrades for up to 22 buildings, public realm works to Burnley Road Memorial Garden, community events and a cultural programme.

Rossendale Council are celebrating after Stubbylee Park in Bacup has been awarded a prestigious Green Flag.
The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces and this year marks the schemes Silver Jubilee.
After 18 months that have seen parks and green spaces play a vital role for people through lockdowns as a place to relax, exercise and meet friends and family safely, the news that Stubbylee has achieved the Green Flag Award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the council team and volunteers that have made the park a great space that everyone can enjoy.

AN HISTORIC community building is the first to receive a grant from the Bacup High Street Heritage Action Zone (HAZ).
In 2020 Rossendale Council was successful in securing £1.08 million from Historic England for a four-year project to repurpose old buildings and underused floor space.
The ABD Centre in Burnley Road was built as a Liberal Club in 1892 and the building and furniture cost £5,000 – £2,000 of which was provided by John Henry Maden – one of the town’s benefactors and a former JP, a Liberal Councillor, County Councillor, Mayor of Bacup and MP for Rossendale.

Areas within the new South Pennines Park are singing from the same hymn sheet – as stencilled lyrics have started to appear to visitor hot spots.
So far, the blue ‘graffiti’ featuring the final verse of the song ‘Chimneys, Moors and Me’ by folk due O’Hooley and Tidow has appeared outside the Kala Sangam Arts Centre in Bradford, Sunnyhurst Woods in Darwen, Bacup town centre in Rossendale and Towneley Park in Burnley – all areas within the new South Pennines Park.

An ambitious plan to secure a vibrant sustainable future for Bacup town centre is being submitted for millions of pounds of government regeneration funding.
Already businesses, residents and visitors have witnessed a rebirth in the town thanks to works carried out with Townscape Heritage Initiative money which was secured by Rossendale Borough Council (RBC).

The leader of Rossendale Council has welcomed progress on Bacup’s multi-million pound bid to improve the town centre.
At tonight’s Cabinet, councillors will receive a report outlining progress on the bid and some very initial concept ideas for the town.
Bacup is in the running for Future High Streets funding and council officers are working closely with councillors, community groups, residents and businesses to put together a credible bid to government.

The Council has received an application to establish a neighbourhood forum for Bacup and Stacksteads.
Prior to formalising this, we are required to both publicise the request and invite comments about whether this group should be able to prepare the neighbourhood plan and if the boundary being proposed for the neighbourhood area is correct.
