A new breakfast club and drop in has been launched to engage and assist residents from the Bacup area to make a difference to their lives.
The Brew and Breakfast Club, based at Trinity Baptist Church on Market Street, Bacup, will be open every Thursday from 10-noon.
It is being organised by Rossendale Works and Rossendale Futures, employability projects set up by Rossendale Council and Active Lancashire and the Department of Work of Pensions
At the first meeting, partner agencies led round table discussions to consider local issues and ways the new club could try to tackle them.

Hundreds of people are supportive of ambitious plans to transform Bacup.
The Council launched the consultation to get views of residents and businesses on the Bacup 2040 vision last month as part its bid to the Future High Street fund.
In August, Rosendale Council welcomed news that Bacup has been included in an expanded list of towns that have progressed in a bid to benefit from the fund.

Rossendale is set to glitter this Christmas as festive lights turn on across the borough.
Fun performances, parades and tasty food will entertain the crowds before the lights turn on to mark the official start of Christmas.
Whitworth is first to light up on Sunday, November 24th at the Civic Hall at 6pm.

A fact-finding tour of Manchester’s Trafford towns gave some inspiration for the regeneration of Bacup town centre.
The ‘seeing is believing’ tour was organised by Rossendale Council’s Economic Development Unit in conjunction with IntoPlaces, a consultancy borne out of the team that led Altrincham Forward.
Council representatives, along with residents from business, heritage and the community, hopped on a bus to visit Urmston and Altrincham.

A landmark building in Bacup town centre is to be transformed and preserved for future generations to use.
The iconic Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank, on the corner of Market Street and Union Street, stands proud with its corner turret, four Harry Potter-esque gargoyles, three shields and two lions – even the bank safe remains in the basement.

A moving Remembrance concert will be taking place in Bacup on Sunday, November 3rd.
The Festival of Remembrance Concert event will take place at Acre Mill Baptist Church on Hammond Avenue, starting at 2.30pm.
It will feature the Rossendale Male Voice Choir and the Stacksteads Band.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

A Bacup man has been fined £420 and found guilty of three offences after driving a Hackney Carriage without the proper licences.
Nigel Paul Flynn, of Pennine Road, Bacup, pleaded guilty to one offence of driving without a Hackney Carriage licence, and was found guilty at trial of the other two offences.

Members of the Friends of Stubbylee Park met up with Rossendale Council staff to celebrate the park’s recent awards success.
The group were celebrating Stubbylee Park being placed in the top 15 of the Fields In Trust UK’s Best Park awards.
Over 36,000 votes were cast and Stubbylee was named 11th out of the 55 nominated parks in the North West.

Rossendale Council has successfully bid for more than £1.5m to support further development at Futures Park.
The Lancashire Enterprise Partnership Board (LEP) agreed Growth Deal funding to deliver improvements to the site which will help support its future growth.
The money will fund improvements to the main road junction as well as flood prevention works on plot one.

The views of Rossendale’s residents are being sought to help influence the final version of a masterplan laying out the future vision for Bacup.
An emerging Bacup 2040 Vision and Masterplan was published in March following five months of extensive community consultation.
Now a further 6-week consultation will invite further thoughts and feedback to help finalise the document.
