Police and Council to Host Live Question and Answer Session

Residents in Rossendale are being given an opportunity to put questions to the police and local council next week in a live online question and answer session.

Officers are joining forces with Rossendale Borough Council for the session which will take place between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Tuesday 7th June.

Inspector Steve Rides from Rossendale Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We know that issues such as drugs, parking, littering, dog fouling, speeding and noise nuisance are a cause of concern for people living in Rossendale, which is why we have decided to host this event.

Rossendale Residents Urged Not to Forget Resillience Grant

Government support is available to Local Authorities to provide grants of up to £5,000 to homeowners and businesses that have been flooded as a result of Storm Desmond and Storm Eva to help fund additional flood resilience or resistance measures for their properties.

No deadline for applications closing has yet been set by Central Government so residents are encouraged to get applications in as soon as possible.

Vote for Rossendale in Britain Has Spirit Competition

Rossendale has 3 representatives in the North West Regional Finals of the Britain Has Spirit Competition.

The Britain Has Spirit competition is a national award scheme to recognise the Community Hero of the Year and Local Initiative of the Year.

The campaign was launched in response to research by Together Mutual Insurance, which highlighted the lack of community spirit across the nation.

Bacup THI Phase 1 Works Nearing Completion

The Bacup Townscape Heritage Initiative Project Phase 1 work is now moving towards being completed with over £400k of work on the Pioneer Building and Clock Tower on Rochdale Road and the RSPCA Building at 33 St James Street being successfully carried out.

Investment into the Pioneer Building has new shop fronts installed and new sash windows fitted.

Flood Advisory Service Roadshow in Rawtenstall

The Flood Advisory Service offers ‘on the spot’ support for homes in Lancashire with a roadshow on Rawtenstall Town Square on Friday 6th May

Following the devastating storms that hit Lancashire over the winter, when hundreds of properties were flooded, Rossendale Borough Council has been working closely with The Flood Advisory Service to ensure homeowners and businesses can easily access the advice and information they need at this difficult time.

Early in March 2016 the Haslingden branch of Civic Pride supported by a few Rawtenstall members, realising what a despicable state the area was in, decided to do something about it.

Haslingden Deep Clean About to Start

Work to undertake a deep clean of streets in Haslingden is due to start on Tuesday 22nd March and last for 12 days; it will be undertaken by Rossendale firm Gumblasters.

The work has come out of the £100k Rossendale Council allocated to the Haslingden Task Force, who have set out their key priorities and regeneration plans for Haslingden Town Centre.
