The charity Active Lancashire has won an award for its successful delivery of two East Lancashire employment programmes, Rossendale Works (RW) and Pendle YES Hub (PYH) .
The organisation was successful in winning the Work and Training Social Enterprise of the Year category at the SELNET Enterprise in Society Awards, at the Village Hotel in Blackpool on Friday 4th November.

Rossendale Council has announced a £400,000 package of support for local people and community groups.
In the wake of the national cost of living crisis the council is keen to support Rossendale’s most vulnerable residents particularly through the Winter months.
From 17 November the council is launching its ‘Ease the Squeeze’ campaign.

After months of waiting Civic Pride Rossendale have been awarded Gold at the Royal Horticultural North West Britain in Bloom event.
The event, which was held at Bolton Football ground, was held over 3 days due to the number of applications from across the North West.
Three of the gardens in the “It’s your Neighbourhood” category were successful on the first day – The Gyro (roundabout) and Library gardens (Sparrow Park) achieved the highest award of Outstanding and the peaceful plot wildlife garden in the Cemetery received an Advanced award
The second day saw Rawtenstall beat off competition from 11 other entries in the Large Town category to scoop the Gold.

THE stunning transformation of one of Bacup’s most iconic building was heralded as a huge success story as it was officially opened.
The Grade II Listed Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank on the corner of Market Street and Union Street, has always stood out in the town centre with its gothic tower, church-style window and quirky gargoyles.

Lancashire’s Labour Council Leaders have come out strongly against the government’s proposals to lift the ban on fracking. Labour Councils have adopted strategies to ensure their organisations can achieve net zero carbon targets by 2030. These councils are also actively working with community groups and businesses to secure broader carbon reduction levels in their districts.

Stacksteads Brass Band officially opens newly refurbished bandroom
In their 150th year Stacksteads Brass Band officially opens their newly refurbished bandroom on Newchurch Road, Stacksteads. Phases 1 and 2 of a three phase project are now complete with works including new windows, doors, roof, heating, lighting and an impressive new frontage.

In a record-breaking year Stubbylee and Moorlands Park is raising its prestigious Green Flag Award again.
Rossendale Council is celebrating after receiving a Green Flag Award for Stubbylee and Moorlands Park in Bacup one of 2208 UK winners.
The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
After two years that have seen our parks and green spaces play a vital role for people through lockdowns as a place to relax, exercise and meet friends and family safely, the news that Stubbylee and Moorlands Park has again achieved the Green Flag Award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that make the green space a great space that everyone can enjoy.

Rossendale Council is seeking £17m from the new Levelling Up Fund (LUF) from the Government to assist with major developments across the borough.
A Levelling Up Board made up of large businesses, smaller- scale entrepreneurs, creatives, community groups and key public sector partners like Rossendale Council, Lancashire County Council and the Nelson & Colne College Group, have developed the bid.

Rossendale Council is undertaking a public consultation on the Climate Change Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
The document includes how new developments in Rossendale can best adapt to climate change, focusing on sustainable and active transport, energy efficiency and renewables, water interventions, biodiversity and Green Infrastructure.
