Councils in Lancashire are waiting for the green light from Government to formally create a Combined Authority for the county as a decision to make the next step gets closer.
And leaders driving forward the proposals have said they will be pressing ahead despite the news that Fylde Council may be the second authority to pull out of the negotiations.

Over 300 properties have benefited from the Flood Resilience Grant opportunities to help protect them from future flooding following the devastating effects of the Boxing Day floods in 2015.
We have received 295 Flood Resilience Grant applications which will benefit 321 properties in Rossendale.
The grant funding has meant that £1.4m worth of flood resilience and protection measures is being invested into Rossendale for our residents.

Rossendale residents and representatives of local community groups are invited to attend their local Neighbourhood Forum meeting to find out more about local services and activities and events in their area.
There are four Neighbourhood Forums in Rossendale covering Haslingden, Rawtenstall, Bacup and Whitworth. The Forums, which are open to all local residents, are informal community meetings to allow networking and information sharing and any agreed action points.

Letters will be going out to those registered for postal voting as the annual refresh exercise takes place.
Those residents who chose to vote by post or proxy are required to provide a signature and date of birth when they first apply to prevent fraud and the possibility of someone else using your vote.

Rossendale Council attended the Pensioners Fair in November and was able to provide help and assistance to those who came, including one lady in particular.
When we attended the Pensioners Fair at Whitworth Civic Hall in November, one resident visited our stand enquiring if she could claim any help towards her rent.

Rossendale Council supports STAR via finance and business support to ensure a local provision remains in Rossendale.
Rossendale Council has today agreed to support local domestic abuse support provider The STAR Centre till March 31st 2017 following their unsuccessful bid for the pan-Lancashire contract under the Safe Together Consortium.
It was announced on Monday December 19th that the pan-Lancashire consortium, Safer Together, of which STAR was a member, were unsuccessful in their bid to be commissioned to run the victim support service.

A year on from Storm Desmond and Storm Eva, Rossendale Borough Council has made provisions to protect residents against the risk of future flooding.
Sandbags have been made available to anybody affected by the 2015 flooding who has not yet had the opportunity to take preventative measures going into this winter.

An opportunity is being offered to shape the future direction of policing in Lancashire.
The Police and Crime Panel, administered by Blackburn with Darwen Council on behalf of Lancashire, needs a new independent member. It was established to scrutinise and support the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).
The important role is to assist the panel by providing independent challenge, making make sure that the views of the public are heard and also influencing policy decisions.

Please note that the Council will be open over the Christmas and New Year period, apart from the Bank Holidays (Dec 26th, 27th and Jan 2nd).
The Council’s One Stop Shop and Futures Park offices will be closing at 4pm on Friday December 23rd and 30th.
Our waste collections will be operating as normal over this period.
