Review of Employment Sites

Rossendale Borough Council has commissioned Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners (NLP) to assess the quality and quantity of employment premises and land throughout the Valley.  As part of this study we are asking businesses involved in manufacturing, industry, storage and distribution, throughout Rossendale to complete an online survey to tell us about existing premises and any plans they have in the future for expansion.

Temporary Absence from Great Britain and Housing Benefits

From 28th July new rules come into force which limit how long housing benefit can be paid to claimants who are temporarily absent from Great Britain.

A change to the Law means that Housing Benefit and Pension Credit cannot be claimed if a customer leaves Great Britain for more than 4 weeks.

School’s Out For Summer Fun

With the school holidays in full swing, Rossendale Borough Coucil would like to remind parents, guardians and carers of the exciting Summer Fun activities that are taking place up and down the Valley over the summer holiday period.

Each year, Rossendale Council, as part of its role in the Children’s Trust, compiles a list of summer events for the Summer Fun brochure.

Rossendale Council and Tor View School Success in Roundabout Refurbishment

Rossendale Council has supported Tor View School to refurbish the artwork on one of the main gateway sites to Rossendale.

The ‘Workers’ Statues on the roundabout near Tesco Haslingden were placed there ten years ago after Tor View School won a competition to design a piece of artwork for the roundabout.

Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment Delight Crowds in Haslingden

Thousands of people lined the streets of Haslingden on Thursday July 21st to welcome the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment as they took part in a Freedom Parade to mark their Freedom of the Borough.

The Regiment were first granted the Freedom of Haslingden in 1964, this was then extended to Rossendale when we last had a parade in the Borough in June 2002, in Rawtenstall.

The forms are to check who is registered to vote so please let us know if the details are correct or if you have any changes to make.

Appointments Made to Shadow Combined Authority

Key appointments to lead the county towards the creation of a Combined Authority have now been made.

Local councils in Lancashire submitted their bid to become a Combined Authority to the Government in June and a shadow Combined Authority has now been formed.

The chair will be Cllr Simon Blackburn, Leader of Blackpool Council, and the vice chair will be Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council.

Clock Strikes for Bacup THI Project Success

Rossendale Borough Council is pleased to announce that The Bacup THI Project has successfully completed the impressive restoration work to the Pioneer Building Clock Tower.

When the scaffolding came down on Pioneer Building it revealed the completion of the most technically challenging aspect of the improvement works to Pioneer Buildings the restoration and structural repair of the clock tower.

Spinning Point Gets Funding Seal

Plans for Rawtenstall’s new £5.4million Spinning Point masterplan have gone into top gear as funding was approved.

The Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) Board and Lancashire County Council (LCC) have now both formally approved the Rossendale Together Barnfield Partnership’s £1.9million bid to the Local Growth Fund and the £3.5million Lancashire County Council funding.
