A 35-year-old man from Stockport has been found guilty of dumping a large amount of rubbish on Laneside Road, Haslingden by Burnley Magistrates Court, following a case brought by Rossendale Borough Council.
Mr Seamus Conroy of Goyt Valley Way, Stockport, appeared at Burnley Magistrates and pleaded guilty to fly tipping. He was fined £320 and ordered to pay £250 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

RESIDENTS have until March 13 to have their say on how they would like to see Haslingden Market developed.
Rossendale Borough Council has secured £300,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and added a further £200,000 of council money to invest in the market off Blackburn Road.
A simple online questionnaire has been launched and residents are being asked to fill it in.

Rossendale Council’s fight against fly tipping and environmental crime across the borough, Operation Trident, has had another successful prosecution.
The operation coordinates a three-pronged approach of education, enforcement and removal, which aims to hold those responsible to account.
Over the last 12 months as part of Operation Trident, officers from the Public Protection Unit at Rossendale Council have been asking businesses how they dispose of waste generated by their commercial activities.

The Haslingden Community Partnership group and Rossendale Council are working alongside Community Interest Company Proffitts – Investing in Communities on a project to improve Victoria Park in Haslingden.
The team have created a draft masterplan for the site which includes improvements to the pathways, entrances, boundary walls, fountain, play area, bowling green and the multi use games area too.

The Haslingden Big Lamp National Lottery Heritage Fund project and Rossendale Council in partnership with Sympathetic Works are offering a free three-day training programme on traditional building skills at Burnley College.
The course which runs from the 8 –10 June is made possible thanks to money raised by lottery players and the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

Rossendale Borough Council are working alongside Haslingden Community Partnership and Community Interest Company Proffitts – Investing in Communities on a project to improve Victoria Park in Haslingden.
The project is in its early stages and one of the first steps will be to invite interested local residents and park users along to the site to meet the team, highlight any issues they have with the space and discuss their own ideas for enhancing the park.

Rossendale Borough Council is asking the public for final feedback on proposals in the Haslingden 2040 Vision and Masterplan.
Rossendale Council announced in summer 2021 they had successfully secured £1.8million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and would be making a further £200,000 contribution from the council.
The 5 year project will focus on Upper Deardengate and will be a major step in the delivery of the Haslingden 2040 Vision & Masterplan.

Rossendale Council have celebrated Local Democracy week by hosting a mock committee with pupils from Haslingden High School to give them an insight into how decisions are made a local level.
Local Democracy Week takes place each autumn and events and activities are organised across the country.
Mayor of Rossendale Jackie Oakes said: “Local Democracy Week is a way of engaging people to get involved in their community, learn about democracy and have a voice in the decisions that matter for our everyday lives.

A NEW website is being launched to back Haslingden’s bid for National Lottery funding to regenerate the town.
Rossendale Borough Council has already been successful in securing £112k from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, match funded by £15k from the council to develop the initial bid.
The website details the £2.5 million plans for the town – including the creation of a landscaped pocket park Cockerill Square, behind shops on Higher Deardengate linking to the town’s market.
