Residents were invited to get involved, debate and help shape the future of health and social care in East Lancashire at a recent engagement event.
Around 40 residents gathered at Haslingden Community Link & Children’s Centre on the evening of Wednesday November 16, to give their views and ideas on what works well, what needs improving and how to face the challenges ahead.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Rossendale, Councillor Granville Morris and Mrs Susan Morris, visited Molly Barnes, Haslingden, this week to wish her a very Happy Birthday.
This year Molly is celebrating a very special birthday as she turned 100 years old on Wednesday 16th November, and her niece Pat Hutchinson arranged a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress as part of the celebrations.

Double Paralympic silver medallist Tom Hamer has officially opened a new £30,000 climbing area in Rossendale.
After cutting the ribbon, the 18 year-old, who took home silver medals in the S14 200m freestyle and SM14 200m individual medley in Swimming at Rio, was the first visitor to scale the wall at Grip & Go in Haslingden on Saturday.

Rossendale residents and representatives of local community groups are invited to attend their local Neighbourhood Forum meeting to find out more about local services and activities and events in their area.
There are four Neighbourhood Forums in Rossendale covering the different areas and meetings are open to all local residents. The Neighbourhood Forums are informal community meetings to allow networking and information sharing and any agreed action points.

Rossendale Borough Council has today taken the decision, following discussions with those affected, to halt the introduction of a small scale recycling project for 300 houses in Haslingden.
The project was developed in response to concerns expressed by this community about waste, fly tipping and recycling.
We are now taking a brief pause on the project because we are aware that both the scale and nature of the project has been misunderstood, and this has caused community concern.

The Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Granville Morris, officially opened the new outdoor gym which has been installed in Victoria Park in Haslingden.
The gym features 6 pieces of state of the art equipment, designed to exercise different parts of the body to provide a full workout. It is located at the end of the path by the main entrance, overlooking the lower part of the park with fantastic views of the surrounding hills.

Hundreds of people recently flocked to Rossendale to help celebrate Grip & Go’s first birthday.
The £275,000 climbing centre, which is based at the Adrenaline Centre in Haslingden, celebrated the milestone by hosting a first birthday party.
The Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Granville Morris, kicked off the celebrations by giving a welcome speech to visitors.

Summary
Air quality is one of the few things which affects all living things and it is essential that we have standards of air quality which support the wellbeing of all residents in the Rossendale Valley.

Rossendale Council has supported Tor View School to refurbish the artwork on one of the main gateway sites to Rossendale.
The ‘Workers’ Statues on the roundabout near Tesco Haslingden were placed there ten years ago after Tor View School won a competition to design a piece of artwork for the roundabout.

Thousands of people lined the streets of Haslingden on Thursday July 21st to welcome the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment as they took part in a Freedom Parade to mark their Freedom of the Borough.
The Regiment were first granted the Freedom of Haslingden in 1964, this was then extended to Rossendale when we last had a parade in the Borough in June 2002, in Rawtenstall.
