Heritage Experts Visit the Bacup THI

On Friday 8th July (2016) the Association of Preservation Trust visited Rossendale for a tour of heritage sites in the areas. Most notably they met with the THI Project Manager Steven Lever and Project Architect Vic Fletcher, from Equilibrium Architects, who gave a tour of the Bacup THI Project to a group of nearly 50 heritage experts and enthusiasts from the Heritage Trust North West.

Free Central Heating for Lancashire Residents

Lancashire residents are being encouraged to winter-proof their homes before the cold kicks in.

Homeowners and tenants across the county are now able to apply into a new fund to provide first time central heating systems to properties across the county.

The £2.25m pot is expected to supply and fit 900 new central heating systems before the start of the autumn, with “fuel poor” residents living in all areas of the red rose county eligible to apply.

Police and Crime Panel for Lancashire Independent Member Vacancy

Rossendale is Awarded a Double Dose of Spirit

After a month of voting, it has now been confirmed that HAPPI and Darren Horsnell are winners of the regional award for Britain Has Spirit! 

HAPPI have been awarded up to £1,000 pounds worth of food and party goods towards a fantastic street party to celebrate with our community. 

Darren Horsnell from Veterans In Communities won in the individuals category and wins an experience day.

Rossendale Residents and Businesses Benefit from Flood Grant Funds

Since the terrible flooding that hit Rossendale on Boxing Day 2015 residents and businesses have benefited from thousands of pounds worth of grant funding, council tax or business rate relief.

The Council has given 356 £500 grants to those affected, totalling £178k.

13 Rossendale businesses have benefited from a total of £52,200 Business Rate (NNDR) relief.

Rossendale Ranked as a Social Mobility Hotspot

Rossendale has been ranked in the national top 20% of socially mobile places to grow up and live, coming 57th out of all 324 local authority areas.

Rossendale was one of only five North West Council in the top 20%, with four of the five North West Council’s coming from Lancashire (Trafford, Fylde, Ribble Valley, Rossendale and Wyre).

Councillors in Cancer Research Relay for Life

Since 2009 some Rossendale Councillors have been completing the 24hr relay around Marl Pits raising money for Cancer Research UK.

This year the team of 12 Rossendale Councillors, captained by Cllr Colin Crawforth, completed the relay in unusually good weather and raised almost £1000 at the last count, for the charity (It has been known to rain continuously for the 24hrs on more than one occasion!).
