Rossendale Council has successfully prosecuted 2 people over failure to adhere to clearance notices issued to them which were causing a blight on their neighbourhoods.
Mr Gerard Wroe of Clough Road, Bacup, was issued with a £660 fine, £319.68 costs and £376.14 compensation by the Court for failure to adhere to a section 215 Notice Town and Country Planning Act 1990 over clearance work that was due.
Rossendale Borough Council has launched a 12 week consultation on its Council Tax Support Scheme for 2017/18.
The consultation comes after Central Government announced a number of welfare changes in its 2015 Summer Budget, some of which apply to the Housing Benefit Scheme.
Rossendale Borough Council’s Council Tax Support Scheme has remained unchanged since April 2013, except for the annual uprating of applicable amounts/premiums keeping it in line with the Housing Benefit Scheme and is formally ratified annually by Full Council.
More than 11,000 homes and businesses in Rawtenstall, Rossendale are set to benefit from a £650,000 engineering project which starts today, to improve power supplies in the area.
The new five-month project, starting Monday 27th June, will secure power supplies by replacing 3.8km of underground cable along Haslingden Road and Bacup Road which have been in place for 60 years.

Rossendale Council has recently taken a variety of steps to make changes to the Hackney Carriage/Private Hire application process and address the number of Rossendale licensed drivers and vehicles working in other areas.
Firstly, we have implemented a Hackney Carriage Intended ‘Use’ policy (adopted at 24th February 2016 Council). Any applications for a new hackney carriage vehicle licence where there is no intention to use the vehicle predominantly in the Borough of Rossendale are refused.

The Local Government Association (LGA), which represents more than 370 councils in England and Wales, is warning home owners and businesses at risk from flash flooding to be prepared.
