Flood Re launches in April 2016 and will promote the availability and affordability of flood insurance for up to 350,000 homeowners across the UK who are at risk of flooding.
The leaflet produced explains more about how Flood Re will work as well as providing general advice to homeowners on managing flood risk.

Rossendale Borough Council has increased its resilience by amending its Disaster Recovery contract and moving its Data Centre to Wakefield and Derby to a purpose built facility. The new sites are open 24 hours a day and are equipped with the latest technology with full power generation on site.
This move has been in the Council’s plans for a long time and has taken a robust plan to execute it, with no impact to residents and services during the move.

Rossendale Borough Council has adopted a new Conservation Strategy for 2016-2021.
The Conservation Strategy shows the Council’s commitment to heritage and celebrates the Valley’s rich architectural history.
The strategy will provide the Council with a new strategic approach to conservation, accompanied by the Conservation Officer post we have in the Council.

Rossendale Borough Council has successfully bid for £10,000 to pilot a Brownfield Register under the Brownfield Register Pilots Fund.
The Council was one of the 36 successful bids (also including Pendle and Hyndburn Council’s) covering 58 authorities. The pilot has 4 key stages which aims to see Local Authorities share best practice.

Lancashire County Council’s Highways Department has closed Fearns Moss Road, Stacksteads, Bacup. Heavy rain has added to water built up from a blocked culvert. Under an emergency procedure order the road is now closed with a diversion in place and the road will only re-open once the remedial works have been carried out to resolve the problem.

Volunteers across the Valley came out on Saturday to help clean up the town centres and nearby streets as part of the national Clean for The Queen campaign.
The Haslingden clean up was jointly organised by local community group Love Haslingden, and Rossendale Borough Council. 25 bags of litter and rubbish were collected on Saturday and local Girl Guides group 1st Haslingden collected a further 8 bags on Sunday around Snig Hole Park in Helmshore.

With regret it has been decided to suspend the kerbside waste collection and recycling service for today, Friday March 4th 2016.
Although the major road routes are passable with care, the side-streets and footpaths are still covered in snow and are not safe for the kerbside collection operation.
The collection workforce have agreed to work on Monday (March 8th) to pull-back the work missed today.

People affected by December’s floods are being urged to take advantage of a Government scheme to help householders and businesses make their properties more resistant to future floods.
Under the scheme, householders and businesses affected by Storms Desmond and Eva can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to help make their homes more resilient to flooding in the future.
