Rossendale Council receive share of Welcome Back Fund for high streets

Local councils across the country have received money from the government to help assist in attracting customers back to our high streets.  

The Welcome Back Fund is providing councils with a share of money from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support high streets and help build back better from the pandemic.

The Whitaker Museum unveils spectacular social space for the people of Rossendale

The Whitaker Museum has celebrated the next exciting phase in its 119 year history, with the launch of a spectacular £2.2 million re-development.  

Opening to the public on Saturday 24 July, this impressive re-development was unveiled yesterday to sponsors, staff, friends and volunteers, including representatives from The National Heritage Lottery Fund, Rossendale Borough Council and Rossendale Leisure Trust.

Stop Hate UK Helpline to launch in Rossendale

Stop Hate UK is pleased to announce the launch of its 24-hour Stop Hate Line helpline service in Rossendale.

Funding for the helpline has been provided by the Shiva Trust Charity who provide equal opportunities for the most marginalised in society and are a source of support for those affected, their families and their communities.

Lancashire Resilience Forum leaders urged caution ahead of July 19

SENIOR figures leading Lancashire’s response to the coronavirus pandemic have urged the public to continue to use their common sense and look out for each other when legal restrictions lift on July 19.

On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson outlined the Government’s plans to lift legal restrictions in England. While legal limits on social contact and wearing masks are expected to be removed, the public is being urged to take personal responsibility and take sensible precautions.

The annual canvass is in progress!

Every year the Electoral Registration Officer is required to conduct a canvass of all residential households to confirm who is eligible to vote.  On Friday 2 July 2021 over 11,000 residents will receive an email from @householdresponse.com asking them to check their information.  If you receive one of these emails it would save the council time and money if you respond as soon as possible using the online response service.

Haslingden 2040 Lottery Success

THE green light has been given to the £2.5million transformation of Haslingden town centre to create a brighter shopper and visitor attraction.

This week, Rossendale Borough Council’s Haslingden 2040 bid won the backing of the National Heritage Lottery Fund; now work on a variety of improvements can begin.

Council leader Councillor Alyson Barnes, who is also Chair of the Haslingden Town Centre Strategic Partnership Board, said: “The key to the success of the Haslingden 2040 bid was that it had the support of the whole community and it was developed with the backing of a number of different stakeholders.

Free travel to vaccination sites in Rossendale

Rossendale council and Transdev are offering free transport to all vaccination sites in Rossendale. 

The council are providing a shuttle bus from Haslingden town centre to the vaccination site situated on Winfields car park. The shuttle bus runs from 1-5pm everyday whilst the site remains open.  

Rosso are also helping to boost the area’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign with a free travel offer.

Rossendale growth companies make the right move

Two high growth companies have made the move to new premises in Rossendale. 

Slingco and Rochdale Production Services Ltd (RPS) have both taken on new units at the New Hall Hey Business Park in Rawtenstall. 

Rossendale Council has provided business rates relief over the next 3 years to assist with the expansion and growth of the two local companies.

Two new Covid-19 vaccination clinics coming to Rossendale

From Monday (14th June) two new mobile Covid-19 vaccination clinics are coming to Rossendale, bringing vaccines closer to people living in the borough.

The clinics will be based in Rawtenstall and Bacup and will be open every day, seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm. Giving people the first dose of the Pfizer vaccines, these temporary facilities will make getting a jab easier and more convenient, with clinicians on hand to answer questions and address any concerns people might have.
