Council help provide IT devices to aid Covid lockdown learning for Rossendale youngsters

Rossendale Borough Council has teamed up with Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Services (BPRCVS) and schools to provide funding for devices to allow children to study online during the Covid crisis. 

 The Council has provided funding for 10 schools in Rossendale to  purchase various devices such as tablets and laptops in order to support children’s home schooling.

Council assist in finding new location for successful Rossendale business

Rossendale Borough Council have assisted one of the area’s largest employers to find a suitable site for their relocation which allows them to stay within Rossendale.  

WeBuyBooks – the online purchaser and retailer of used books – have purchased the 120,000 sq ft Lambert Mill (formerly known as Greenbridge Works and originally called Hall Carr Mill) just off Bocholt Way on the outskirts of Rawtenstall.

Whitworth’s New Community Orchard

During late December, amidst the cold weather and harsh local lockdown, a team of local volunteers from ‘WHITWORTH IN BLOOM’ planted an Orchard in the village. With funding from Lancashire Environmental fund a large variety of apple, plum, and cherry trees now adorn the council owned area of Waingap woods, additional trees have been planted in Britannia and Healey corner to ensure that the fruit will be accessible to all for years to come.

Council launch employability forum to help Rossendale residents

Rossendale Borough Council have held the first ever Employability and Skills Forum in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The forum brought together representatives from a wide variety of organisations to promote collaboration between the groups and the existing employability and support programmes in the valley.

Improved Staghills play area nears completion

2021 has started with some good news for the residents of Staghills. After a difficult year, this month will see the finishing touches added to the new Staghills Play Area in Rossendale. The play area improvements have been driven by the Newchurch Village Community Association group, with support from Rossendale Borough Council and the team at local community interest company, Proffitts – Investing in Communities.

Work to begin on site for development of Bright Futures nursery

Rossendale Borough Council and Bright Futures Early Learning have signed the final lease agreements which will allow building work to begin on the plot 1 site at Futures Park in Bacup.

Construction is planned to start this month to build the new centre which will provide nursery and childcare provision for 0 to 4-year olds.
