Invest in Rossendale starts Business Workshops for Local Businesses

 Rossendale Borough Council’s successful Invest in Rossendale initiative has held its first socially distanced and Covid compliant workshop for businesses.

The workshop run by Business Advisor Brad Hacking was the first of several planned ‘Keystone’ workshops scheduled by Invest in Rossendale that are aimed at helping new, as well as established companies, across Rossendale.

The government has announced its new coronavirus alert system and has placed Lancashire in Tier 2 – meaning that coronavirus levels are high in the county.

Plans in place to grow Rossendale’s Visitor Economy

A COMPREHENSIVE Visitor Economy Strategy has been drawn up to make Rossendale more attractive to day visitors and those wanting a staycation.

Since July, a series of online meetings have gathered the views of more than 60 businesses, organisations and community members on five key areas: marketing; outdoor, lifestyle; accommodation and creativity.

The Councils Helping Hand for Derelict Buildings across Rossendale

Rossendale Borough Council is working closely with derelict and vacant buildings owners across the Valley to provide help, advice and support in restoring and repurposing these buildings. The Council have recently supported Valley Heritage, Rossendale’s building preservation trust, in their mission to secure ownership of and funding for the purchase and redevelopment of the Grade 2 Listed former Lancashire & Yorkshire Bank in Bacup.

Successful Public Consultation Closes for Haslingden 2040 Master Plan

The consultation period for Haslingden 2040 Master Plan drew to a close on 25th September. 

Rossendale Council successfully secured funding for a first stage of development supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The phase one funds will transform Upper and Lower Deardengate as well as parts of Manchester and Blackburn Road.

Rawtenstall premises closed under coronavirus regulations

direction has been served under the coronavirus regulations to a Rawtenstall licensed premises breaking the current Covid restrictions. 

Following reports from the public the council investigated Revival on Bacup Road, Rawtenstall.  The council found strong evidence as reported by eye witnesses of a ‘party atmosphere’ with people dancing, singing and congregating in a mass gathering at the venue on 11 September.

Businesses asked to prepare with QR code posters ahead of the launch of NHS app

As the prime minister announced last week, certain designated venues will have a legal duty to ask all customers and visitors to provide contact details, and to display an official NHS QR code poster so that customers and visitors can check into a venue using their NHS Covid-19 app. This applies to all beauty and close contact services, including hairdressers and barbers, nail bars, spas and tanning salons.

New COVID measures being introduced in Lancashire

New measures are to be introduced in Lancashire as part of a combined effort across the county to help fight Covid-19.
Following a significant rise in the number of cases, and initial signs that hospital admissions are starting to increase, more stringent measures are to be introduced.

The measures are designed to protect residents in the county from the spread of Covid-19, especially our more vulnerable residents.

Coronavirus testing in Rossendale 14.9.20

The mobile testing centre that has been situated at Marl Pits has now moved on.  

Testing is still available by booking online through the Governments testing webpage. 

People only need to be tested if they are showing symptoms. 

If you or a member of your household has symptoms, you should stay at home and self-isolate for 10 days from the point your symptoms started.
