Have your say on walks around the borough

A special walking summit is being held to let people give their views on how to boost walking activities in Rossendale.

Rossendale’s Together an Active Future project is looking at how to encourage a more active community and want your input on making it easier for people.

It is hosting a walking summit on Wednesday, February 27th at The Riverside in Whitworth, OL12 8DP.

Rossendale Council has welcomed news that flood grants are being made available to residents and businesses in the borough

The Government has announced a package of measures and financial help to help those directly affected by recent storms.

Households and businesses in Rossendale affected by flooding during Storms Ciara and Dennis may be able to receive financial help.

The Civic Pride Rossendale AGM took place at Rawtenstall Cricket Club on Tuesday, 18th February 2020.

The Mayor of Rossendale, Councillor Barbara Ashworth, the Mayoress Mrs Christine Lamb, and Mr Neil Shaw, Chief Executive of Rossendale Borough Council attended in addition to many CPR volunteers and supporters.

Outgoing Chair of Civic Pride Rossendale, Chris Blomerley, thanked everyone for their hard work over the past year, noting that as CPR enters its third decade, the Valley has never looked cleaner and brighter with groups now successfully operating in Bacup, Weir, Waterfoot, Crawshawbooth, Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Helmshore and beyond.

Local mum latest beneficiary of affordable warmth grant

Rossendale Council is taking action on fuel poverty to provide eligible residents with little or no cost insulation and brand new A-rated boilers.

The Council’s Affordable Warmth Grant provides funding for first-time central heating, boiler upgrades, radiator repairs and gas fire replacements.

The scheme is managed by award-winning Community Interest Company YES Energy Solutions on behalf of the Council.

Love your park!

Rossendale  Council’s Community Team is working on a Love Parks project to give a boost to the borough’s green spaces.

The first park we are working on is Edgeside Park in Waterfoot, alongside Newground Landscape Services.

The Love Parks initiative was developed following the success of the work in Stubbylee Park, where the community, the council and partners worked together to make real improvements.

Council update on future plans for Rawtenstall

Over the last few years, the Council with its partners have worked really hard to improve our town centres. This work has paid dividends especially in Rawtenstall.

In Rawtenstall, a lot has been delivered and it is clear there is a lot of positivity around the town.

Residents, visitors and businesses have fed back how good the town centre is looking, how the night time economy is booming and how great it is there is an influx of quality food and drink retailers.

Play area work set to start

Work to develop a new play area in Rising Bridge is due to start this week.

The project will involve new play equipment for children aged 0-16, new safety surfacing, drainage for the play area and a football pitch and a picnic area, to replace the old and worn play equipment.

Council’s attention turns to suicide prevention

Rossendale Council has joined forces with a national alliance that is aiming to eradicate suicide in the UK as part of a drive on suicide prevention.

The Zero Suicide Alliance’s coalition of like-minded partners are working together to help rid the UK of suicide by initially raising awareness of a free online suicide prevention training programme.
