The Council has launched a parking policy review for Rawtenstall to develop a strategy which will ensure future arrangements meet the needs of businesses, shoppers and commuters.
A survey of how the car parks are presently being used is being undertaken as well as engagement with traders and shoppers to gather views for a report which will shape the strategy.

A bid for funding to further develop exciting new plans for Haslingden has been approved.
A bold new vision and masterplan for the town, which have been shaped by businesses and residents, were unveiled earlier this year called Haslingden 2040.
It includes plans to create new event spaces, shared green areas for people to meet and better pedestrian links.

Rossendale Council have identified two sites to locate the parks and cemeteries team.
The team needed to find a new depot to operate from as they are due to be displaced by works to improve the Whitaker.
The Council has identified a current depot at Tup Bridge and to establish a small scale operating centre at Marl Pits.

Christopher Edward McTernan (50) of New Line, Bacup, has been ordered to pay £1,235 after abandoning his car at a pub in Stacksteads.
McTernan did not attend court and was found guilty in his absence of abandoning a vehicle prior to the 10th July 2019. It was recovered from the public car park opposite the Rose N Bowl public house Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, Rossendale.

Thank you to everyone who has got in touch with us regarding the joint action by the Council and the Environment Agency being taken at Wallbank Lodge reservoir.
We understand the public interest in this and know it’s an emotional issue.
However, we have no choice but to do this because the species of fish are not suitable for the type of water at Wallbank/Hall Fold Lodge.

Work to remove illegally stocked species of fish from a Rossendale reservoir will take place tomorrow (Tuesday, December 3.)
Rossendale Council has worked with the Environment Agency to arrange the removal of the animals from Wallbank Lodge Reservoir.
As a result of the fish being placed there unlawfully, the reservoir is now over-stocked and the new species are causing an environmental concern.

Voters who want to have their say in the election to take place on Thursday, December 12th have just a short time left to have their say.
The deadline to register is Tuesday, November 26th.

After nine years of interview rejections, Asim Elahi has got a job thanks to help from an innovative employment programme.
Asim, 37, had been working for Training 2000 for nearly 12 years, but was made redundant in 2010 when the Rawtenstall office closed.
Since then he has applied for scores of jobs and attended many interviews, but his lack of confidence, anxiety and issues with disability meant he only ever got voluntary work.

Some of Rossendale’s best known leisure and tourism venues are seeking experienced business people willing to join their boards as unpaid non-executive directors to share their knowledge and experience.
