Rossendale Council has received £17.9m funding in today’s budget.
Council Leader Alyson Barnes said: “We’re very pleased to have finally received almost £18m in funding which we first identified in our Levelling Up bid. The council, along with our partners and stakeholders, have worked incredibly hard to maintain the pressure on the Government.

A ‘Masterplan for Improvements’ at Whitaker Park is being drafted – and stakeholders are looking for nearby residents to have their say on the changes they’d like to see.
Rossendale Borough Council are working alongside Community Interest Company Proffitts – Investing in Communities and several local community groups including The Friends of Whitaker Park, The Whitaker Park Museum, Civic Pride Rossendale, The Rossendale Leisure Trust, and Incredible Edible Rossendale on a project to improve Whitaker Park in Rawtenstall.

It has now been a year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and Rossendale residents have supported 84 people from Ukraine to settle into the Valley.
All have stayed with local host families who have opened up their homes and helped them to acclimatise to this country. Many have now found jobs and even moved into their own homes.

AFTER scooping Gold with its first-time Britain in Bloom entry – Rawtenstall has been picked to represent the North West in the 2023 national competition.
Volunteer-led Civic Pride Rossendale coordinated last year’s entry and engaged hundreds of people from the community to back its plans – everyone from nursery age to 90.

A crackdown on the dumping of rubbish and vehicles has seen offenders pay out over £22,000 from more than 100 incidents across Rossendale in less than two years.
Rossendale Council’s Public Protection officers have carried out 177 investigations into fly-tipping and similar offences under Operation Trident, as well as receiving 233 reports of abandoned vehicles.

Rossendale Council are encouraging residents who are struggling to keep their homes warm to check their eligibility for a grant from the Affordable Warmth Fund.
The fund which is managed by Homewise, a registered charity which provides impartial help and advice on all aspects of home improvements, repairs and maintenance, can offer funding for items ranging from boiler replacement to draft proofing measures.

RESIDENTS have until March 13 to have their say on how they would like to see Haslingden Market developed.
Rossendale Borough Council has secured £300,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and added a further £200,000 of council money to invest in the market off Blackburn Road.
A simple online questionnaire has been launched and residents are being asked to fill it in.

Home Upgrade Grants are now available via ‘Cosy Homes in Lancashire’ (CHiL) the Affordable Warmth Initiative established by the 15 Local Authorities in Lancashire. The aim of the scheme is to reduce fuel poverty and reach net zero ambitions.
Qualifying owner-occupiers in Rossendale Council can access this energy-efficiency grant scheme which is worth up to £25,000 per property.

Rossendale Council are asking for volunteers to plant 400 trees as part of the award-winning initiative- Rossendale Forest.
Rossendale Forest, the council’s tree planting initiative to plant a tree for every child in the borough – that’s 16,000 trees – between 2022-2025 – has successfully planted more than 11,500 trees since the start of 2022.

Rossendale will benefit from approximately £8.8m of the successful Levelling Up Fund Round 2 award by government to Lancashire County Council (LCC). A number of schemes will be implemented in Rossendale as part of the range of public transport, walking and cycling projects that are currently at the proposal stage for East Lancashire.
