Local resident and keen gardener Gerry Reid was given a new lease of life after Rossendale Council helped him to access a disabled facilities grant.
The grants are available to help people with disabilities move freely around their homes.
They can change lives as Gerry explains in this new video.

Northern Grip, a premier mountain biking festival, which attracts hundreds of people from across the country to the borough, is returning to Rossendale.
Commenting on the news, Councillor Alyson Barnes, leader of the Council, said:
“I am delighted Northern Grip will take place in Stubbylee Park and Lee Quarry again.

There has been a few concerns raised about parking in the borough over recent weeks.
Responding to the concerns, Council leader Alyson Barnes said:
“I fully understand concerns over parking in Rawtenstall and also the wider borough. Good availability of parking spaces is one of the key reasons people decide to come to a place and spend money and time in a centre.

Rossendale Council’s leader Alyson Barnes has expressed disappointment that Rossendale to Manchester rail link is not listed as a priority project in Transport for the North’s strategic transport plan (STP).
Last week, Transport for the North published its Strategic Transport Plan (STP) and investment programme.
A rail link for Rossendale is included in the plan but on a list of possible interventions after 2027.

Rossendale Council has outlined its budget plans for the coming year as it continues its efforts to balance the books.
Over the last few years, the Council has been hit by significant cuts to its central government grants.
It has meant the Council has had to generate additional income locally, mainly through increased business rates and Council tax revenue.

A little bit of Switzerland has come to Rossendale with the opening of the café bistro at The Hill – the Home of Ski Rossendale.
The development at the former Council-owned slope has led to a café and a rooftop terrace offering seating for 94 people in total with stunning views of the slopes and the hills.

Holocaust Memorial Day takes place today and is a chance for people across the world to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, the millions of people killed under Nazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Marking the day, Council leader Alyson Barnes said:
“Today is a day that reminds us where hatred can lead if it remains unchecked.

Rossendale Council is encouraging anyone who lives or works in the borough to borrow through credit unions instead of high interest money lender sites.
Credit unions are community savings and loan cooperatives, where members pool their savings to lend to one another. They are organisations that are run by their members for the benefit of the members.

Invites are open to all to take part in a walk around Bacup on Saturday, 26th January.
The walk will discover why settlers chose this corner of the valley and the social and economic evolution of Bacup to the present day. There will also be a chance to find out more about the Forest of Rossendale, the pack horse routes and much more.
