Grants of up to £750 are available to help provide activities for children, young people and families.
The deadline for the latest round of applications to the Rossendale Community Fund is October 8.
The fund was set up by Rossendale Borough Council in partnership with the Community Foundation for Lancashire. It offers grants to support projects which help children, young people and families people to get involved in community activities and learning.

We are pleased to announce that the Rossendale-based Ekah Foundation has come on board as the sponsor of our Invest in Rossendale launch on September 6.
Dragons’ Den star Piers Linney is the guest speaker at the event at which takes palce at The Riverside, Whitworth, from 5pm to 8.30pm.
The foundation explains more about what it does and why it is backing Invest in Rossendale.

Council leader Alyson Barnes has raised concerns about the sudden closure of Waterfoot Post Office.
She has written to Adrian Wales, Post Office regional network manager, asking for steps to be taken to ensure that the “vital service” re-opens as soon as possible.
The branch has been shut since the start of July.

Residents are being urged to take part in Government consultation on plans to allow exploratory fracking to go ahead without planning permission.
The proposals would designate exploratory drilling for shale gas as a new form of permitted development. This means that planning consent would not be required, taking the decision out of the hands of local authorities.

Rossendale Council has published the Rossendale Local Plan for consultation. All the consultation documents and the online comments form are available to view online.
Paper copies can be viewed at the One Stop Shop at Futures Park Monday to Friday, 8.45am-5pm (except Tuesdays from 9.15pm to 5pm), and at all libraries in Rossendale during normal opening hours, as well as at Crawshawbooth Village Centre.

Rossendale businesses can boost their digital skills at a free event hosted by Rossendale Council and Google Digital Garage at Futures Park, Bacup, on September 27.
Four workshops will take place during the day covering the topics: how to build a digital marketing plan, an introduction to digital advertising, social media strategy and writing for social media.

A local charity is to look at the future options for an historic Bacup hall.
Valley Heritage won the tender to work with Rossendale Council on a project to identify possible long-term uses for Stubbylee Hall and potential funding sources for improvements and restoration.
The Grade II listed hall in Stubbylee Park was built in 1808 for the Holt Family who lived there until 1911.

Councillor Christine Lamb, Portfolio Holder for Regulatory Services, said:
The protection and care of this site falls to the current owners who we are communicating with. It has had multiple owners all of which have had various intentions for it however, despite repeated suggestions and requests to make it more secure, little has been done leading to the site continuing to be the target of vandalism.

Rossendale Council has stepped in to remove dilapidated advertising hoardings from a conservation area in Rawtenstall.
It appointed a contractor to demolish the hoardings and four flagpoles at Holly Mount House in Rawtenstall.
They were erected by developer Westby Homes when it converted the Grade II Listed building in St Mary’s Way into apartments.
