New average speed cameras will be enforced from Monday, November 6 on the B6232 Grane Road.
Following their installation and a successful period of testing, the cameras will now go live for enforcement between Junction 5 of the M65 near Belthorn through to the A56 at Haslingden – a total distance of 4.93 miles.

Popular Haslingden eatery, the Dearden Tea Rooms has been nominated for a prestigious award for its work with people living with Dementia.
The tea rooms run by business partners Andrea Britland and Chris Hood, former head chef at the Fisherman’s Retreat, are up for an Inclusive Tourism Award as well as Lancashire Café/Tearoom Award in the Lancashire Tourism Awards.

Rossendale Borough Council has issued a fixed penalty notice of £400 for flytipping.
The fine was given to a man from Bury after household waste was found fly tipped next to Wood Lane in Edenfield.
Councillor Jackie Oakes, Portfolio Holder for Operations at Rossendale Borough Council, said:
Flytippers are a blight on local neighbourhoods and their disgusting and arrogant behaviour needs to be stopped.

Rossendale Civic Pride volunteers do lots of work to make the borough a cleaner and greener place. Volunteers also work with children and young people to educate them about the problems that arise because of littering.

Lord Shuttleworth, the Queen’s representative in Lancashire, visited the borough recently to look at some of the major projects the Council and its partners are delivering.
He visited Bacup to see what was happening in the town thanks to the Townscape Heritage Initiative and then to see the progress being made on Rawtenstall town centre thanks to the work on Spinning Point.

Rossendale residents are being reminded not to miss the deadline to return vital forms.
During the summer every residential property in the Borough received a household enquiry form, and people that did not respond were then visited by canvass staff during October to try and gather the information that we need to ensure all eligible people are registered to vote.

Many residents have approached Rossendale Council about traffic problems in Rawtenstall which are causing major delays for motorists.
In a statement, Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of the Council, said:
“Quite a few residents have been in contact with myself and fellow councillors about the gridlock in Rawtenstall town centre – and it was especially bad on Sunday.

Rossendale was hit quite badly over the weekend with heavy rain and wind causing major disruption and flooding to residents and motorists.
In a statement, Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of Rossendale Council, said:
“Saturday was a tough night for people in Rossendale. Council staff worked with both Lancashire County Council, the Emergency Services, volunteers and the Environment Agency to try to limit the disruption.

Rossendale Council has released an update on parking in Rawtenstall.
Councillor Andrew MacNae, Portfolio holder for Regeneration, Tourism and Lesiure, said:
“The council have started to look at this issue as parking in Rawtenstall is becoming a real issue especially with commuters parking up all the day which limits spaces for shoppers and affects trade.

A week of action is taking place to raise awareness of all hate crimes.
National Hate Crime Awareness Week runs from Saturday, October 14th until Saturday, October 21st, with events taking place all week.
Hate crimes are any crimes that are targeted at a person because of hostility or prejudice towards that person’s disability, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation or gender identity.
