Rossendale Council helps Lancashire become the first White Ribbon County

Rossendale Council has made a commitment to ending violence against women and girls by signing up for White Ribbon status.

The local authority has joined others from across Lancashire, where all district councils and unitary authorities across the County now hold the accreditation.

The White Ribbon Campaign is the largest global effort of men working to end male violence against women.

Welcome to the neighbourhood!

Rossendale residents and representatives of local community groups are invited to attend their local Neighbourhood Forum meeting to find out more about activities and events in their area and discuss local issues.

There are four Neighbourhood Forums in Rossendale covering the different areas and meetings are open to all local residents.

Haslingden Baths: Statement

The Council and the Haslingden Baths Community Interest Company have issued the following statement:

Rossendale Council and HBCIC continue to work together.

Progress of the refurbishment has been limited in the last few months, because of building structural issues and financial restrictions.

The Council and directors of HBCIC have met on numerous occasions and the Council has advised it is willing to release £100,000 on the condition that the funding shortfall is met by other funding sources.

Council to host Spinning Point digital Q+A

Rossendale Council is to host an online digital session to answer residents’ questions about the future of Rawtenstall town centre.

The session, around the next phase of the Spinning Point development, will take place on Facebook, will go ahead on Thursday, October 12 from 5.30pm-7.30pm.

Answering question on the night will be Councillor Andy MacNae, Executive Member for Regeneration, Leisure and Tourism; alongside Paul Walker and the Council’s Planning Manager Nicola Hopkins.

Councillors vote on green waste charges

Rossendale Council Members have voted to introduce charges for green waste collections.

A report into the charges was debated at Full Council on Wednesday, October 4.

It is part of an on-going package of measures to deal with cuts to the Council’s funding from both the Government and Lancashire County Council, which has cut its ‘cost share’ payment, which supports recycling services, to Rossendale by more than £500,000.

New date added for you to have your say on Rawtenstall’s future

A new date has been added for residents to get a glimpse of the future of Rawtenstall town centre.

The Rossendale Together Barnfield (RTB) Partnership are seeking residents’ views on the next phase of the Spinning Point development.

Two events have already been held and around 40 people attended to see officers.

Leader praises community group after it receives royal approval

The Leader of Rossendale Council Councillor Alyson Barnes, has praised Civic Pride Rossendale after they were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.

Last Wednesday, Civic Pride Rossendale were one of only five groups from Lancashire to be awarded the award, which is known as the MBE for volunteer organisations it is the highest recognition that a voluntary organisation can receive in the UK.
