A Rossendale Council running team raised over £1200 for charity after taking part in the Great Manchester Run.
The group – dubbed the ‘Futures Running Team’ – formed to get fit together and spend time with each other out of the office.
The nine members, who include Chief Executive Stuart Sugarman, came together at the start of 2017 and progressed so well they set themselves the goal of entering the internationally renowned 10k event in Manchester.

Ahead of the expiration of its seven-day deadline for Lancashire County Council to confirm support for the THI public realm scheme, Bacup THI board Chair, Councillor Andy MacNae, has issued the following statement:
Lancashire County Council has requested extra time to consider its options. We have agreed to this as we really value our partnership but this uncertainty cannot go on much longer.

Following a meeting of the Bacup THI board this week, the chair of the Board, Councillor Andy MacNae made the following statement:
“The THI public realm scheme is facing uncertainty after Lancashire County Council has been unable to confirm that the project will receive its support. The THI board has confirmed its support for scheme, which has been tweaked following recent public feedback including the public meeting.

In just over a week local residents will be able to access Rossendale Council’s new and improved website.
The new site goes live on Wednesday August 9, and features a re-jigged layout – with an A-Z of services – that makes it quicker and easier for residents to access the information they need.

Members of the Rossendale Together Barnfield (RTB) Partnership have paid the Spinning Point site a visit to see progress that has been made.

After visiting the site, Councillor Andy MacNae, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Leisure and Tourism, said:

A new campaign aims to highlight the common causes of collisions involving child pedestrians in Lancashire in a bid to cut the number of deaths and injuries on roads.
‘Look Out Lancs’ is being run by the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership and encourages everyone on the roads to look out for each other.

Rossendale Council has published its draft local plan which guides how the borough will achieve its targets for housing, employment sites and facilities over the next few years.
Residents and businesses are invited to have their say on the plan which will guide development for the next 15 years.
As well as earmarking sites for development, the plan will also propose sites for environmental protection.
