Lancashire Constabulary is supporting a national campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of using a mobile phone behind the wheel.
There are tough new penalties for those who flout the law. From next week, Wednesday 1 March 2017, new legislation comes into effect that means motorists who are caught using a mobile whilst driving will receive six points on their licence and a £200 fine, doubling the previous punishment.

Rossendale Council Officer’s work on night time noise nuisance sees positive results for a neighbour troubled by dog barking at night in Earby.
Environmental Health Officer at Rossendale Council work on out of hours noise nuisance calls through the night alongside fellow colleagues across Lancashire. Recently one such case resulted in a prosecution based on the work of our Officer.

Saturday March 4th will see the grand opening of the eagerly awaiting pump track in Stubbylee Park as part of the regeneration masterplan.
The event will take place 12noon-3pm on Saturday March 3rd where people can ride the track for the very first time.
Bikes will be available to use and advice given by those who constructed the track, as well as refreshments.

Councils in Lancashire are waiting for the green light from Government to formally create a Combined Authority for the county as a decision to make the next step gets closer.
And leaders driving forward the proposals have said they will be pressing ahead despite the news that Fylde Council may be the second authority to pull out of the negotiations.
