Public meeting will be held with the Commissioner to discuss and understand how crime is tackled in the area.
A public meeting will be held at the Council Chamber at Futures Park, Bacup at 7pm on Thursday 16th February to give residents the opportunity to ask Clive Grunshaw, Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner, about how crime is tackled in the Bacup area.

Bacup Post Office will be modernised and is set for longer opening hours as part of The Post Office’s new investment scheme.
The Post Office will open a newly modernised “main” Post Office at 5 Burnley Road, Bacup, OL13 8AA.
- Opening hours increased to 46 hours a week
- Convenient, quick service, new modern layout
- Banking services for personal customers and small businesses
- Bill payment, banking, benefits and travel money
- Postage, home shopping returns, Local Collect
- Financial Services Advice
The service, which will launch at 1pm on Monday 30 January, will be provided from four serving positions, one modern screened, two open plan and a Post Office serving point for use at the retail counter, which is available during shop opening hours offering selected services.

Blackburn Cathedral is to host a special event celebrating the work done by public services in Lancashire.
The Candlelight Festival promises ‘a sequence of words and music from Epiphany to Candlemas’ and will honour the contribution of local government and NHS organisations to local communities across the County.
Staff members from public services, as well as members of the public, are all welcome to attend the event, which will take place on Sunday, February 5 at 6.30pm.

Due to weather conditions waste and recycling collections for today (Friday 13th January 2017) will be delayed.
Crews have completed today’s waste and recycling collections from the majority of properties. In some instances, due to unsafe icy conditions on roads and back lanes, we have had to divert crews away to ensure safe passage, especially in areas where there are cars double parked.

Letters will be going out to those registered for postal voting as the annual refresh exercise takes place.
Those residents who chose to vote by post or proxy are required to provide a signature and date of birth when they first apply to prevent fraud and the possibility of someone else using your vote.

People are being urged to think about the alcohol that they drink, as part of Dry January.
Lancashire County Council is supporting the national Dry January campaign, run by Alcohol Concern, and encouraging people to join in.
Reducing the amount of alcohol you drink has health benefits by helping you to lose weight and sleep better.

Work will resume to create a major cycle route linking towns in East Lancashire following a consultation on what people would like to see from the routes being developed in Rossendale.
The East Lancashire Cycleway Network aims to transform cycling in the area, making it easier for people to use their bikes to access opportunities by improving links to workplaces, schools, shops and services.

Rossendale Council attended the Pensioners Fair in November and was able to provide help and assistance to those who came, including one lady in particular.
When we attended the Pensioners Fair at Whitworth Civic Hall in November, one resident visited our stand enquiring if she could claim any help towards her rent.
