Rossendale was hit quite badly over the weekend with heavy rain and wind causing major disruption and flooding to residents and motorists.
In a statement, Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of Rossendale Council, said:
“Saturday was a tough night for people in Rossendale. Council staff worked with both Lancashire County Council, the Emergency Services, volunteers and the Environment Agency to try to limit the disruption.

Rossendale Council Members have voted to introduce charges for green waste collections.
A report into the charges was debated at Full Council on Wednesday, October 4.
It is part of an on-going package of measures to deal with cuts to the Council’s funding from both the Government and Lancashire County Council, which has cut its ‘cost share’ payment, which supports recycling services, to Rossendale by more than £500,000.

A new date has been added for residents to get a glimpse of the future of Rawtenstall town centre.
The Rossendale Together Barnfield (RTB) Partnership are seeking residents’ views on the next phase of the Spinning Point development.
Two events have already been held and around 40 people attended to see officers.

The Leader of Rossendale Council Councillor Alyson Barnes, has praised Civic Pride Rossendale after they were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
Last Wednesday, Civic Pride Rossendale were one of only five groups from Lancashire to be awarded the award, which is known as the MBE for volunteer organisations it is the highest recognition that a voluntary organisation can receive in the UK.

Help Civic Pride celebrate the community on October 21st at Kay Street Baptist Church, Rawtenstall.
Meet some of their army of volunteers who give up their time 365 days a year to keep Rossendale looking its best. Last year they collected over 18 tonnes of litter, as well as creating 14 eye catching community gardens to welcome residents and visitors alike as they enter, travel through and leave the town.

There is still time to have your say on the plan which will guide the borough’s development over the next 15 years.
Rossendale Council has published its draft local plan which guides how the borough will achieve its targets for housing, employment sites and facilities over the next few years.
It will also guide where new housing and employment will be located as well as where land should be protected.

The Rossendale Together Barnfield (RTB) Partnership are seeking residents’ views on the next phase of the Spinning Point development.
Officers and members of the RTB Board will be on hand for residents to ask questions.

Ski Rossendale has begun more exciting redevelopment plans at its Haslingden Old Road site.
Working with Rossendale Council, The Ski Rossendale Board has created a proposal to build a new reception, changing area, café and outside dining area at the Rawtenstall-based dry ski slope.
The new plans are part of an overall 630K project, funded by Sport England and supported by Rossendale Council, which includes enhanced skiing facilities along with the new ski centre building.

Following a meeting of the Bacup THI board this week, the chair of the Board, Councillor Andy MacNae made the following statement:
“The THI public realm scheme is facing uncertainty after Lancashire County Council has been unable to confirm that the project will receive its support. The THI board has confirmed its support for scheme, which has been tweaked following recent public feedback including the public meeting.
