The Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Granville Morris, officially opened the new outdoor gym which has been installed in Victoria Park in Haslingden.
The gym features 6 pieces of state of the art equipment, designed to exercise different parts of the body to provide a full workout. It is located at the end of the path by the main entrance, overlooking the lower part of the park with fantastic views of the surrounding hills.

Review of Employment Sites
Rossendale Borough Council has commissioned Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners (NLP) to assess the quality and quantity of employment premises and land throughout the Valley. As part of this study we are asking businesses involved in manufacturing, industry, storage and distribution, throughout Rossendale to complete an online survey to tell us about existing premises and any plans they have in the future for expansion.

Historic England puts Britannia Mill, Bacup in their List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest
The report from Historic England states that Britannia Mill, on New Line in Bacup, is a well-preserved and rare example of a mid-19th century integrated mill complex.

Summary
Air quality is one of the few things which affects all living things and it is essential that we have standards of air quality which support the wellbeing of all residents in the Rossendale Valley.

Rossendale Council has supported Tor View School to refurbish the artwork on one of the main gateway sites to Rossendale.
The ‘Workers’ Statues on the roundabout near Tesco Haslingden were placed there ten years ago after Tor View School won a competition to design a piece of artwork for the roundabout.

Rossendale Borough Council is pleased to announce that The Bacup THI Project has successfully completed the impressive restoration work to the Pioneer Building Clock Tower.
When the scaffolding came down on Pioneer Building it revealed the completion of the most technically challenging aspect of the improvement works to Pioneer Buildings the restoration and structural repair of the clock tower.

Plans for Rawtenstall’s new £5.4million Spinning Point masterplan have gone into top gear as funding was approved.
The Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) Board and Lancashire County Council (LCC) have now both formally approved the Rossendale Together Barnfield Partnership’s £1.9million bid to the Local Growth Fund and the £3.5million Lancashire County Council funding.

Rossendale Borough Council, together with Hyndburn and Pendle Councils, submitted a joint bid to the Government in February 2016 to become a pilot authority to prepare a Brownfield Register. The bid was successful and each authority has compiled a list of sites to be included in its own Brownfield Register.

We have been receiving and increased number of complaints regarding odours from HGV’s travelling through the Valley.
These vehicles are carrying material from a commercial composting company in Calderdale. The material is classed as a type of compost and is used by farmers to improve their land. The material is produced under a Permit from the Environment Agency, the only control on vehicles leaving the site is that they must be covered up before they leave site.

On Friday 8th July (2016) the Association of Preservation Trust visited Rossendale for a tour of heritage sites in the areas. Most notably they met with the THI Project Manager Steven Lever and Project Architect Vic Fletcher, from Equilibrium Architects, who gave a tour of the Bacup THI Project to a group of nearly 50 heritage experts and enthusiasts from the Heritage Trust North West.
