In April of this year our Haslingden division supported by some of our Rawtenstall regulars cleared over 280 bags plus huge amounts of larger detritus from across the Carrs Industrial Estate.

Lancashire residents are being encouraged to winter-proof their homes before the cold kicks in.
Homeowners and tenants across the county are now able to apply into a new fund to provide first time central heating systems to properties across the county.
The £2.25m pot is expected to supply and fit 900 new central heating systems before the start of the autumn, with “fuel poor” residents living in all areas of the red rose county eligible to apply.

Since the terrible flooding that hit Rossendale on Boxing Day 2015 residents and businesses have benefited from thousands of pounds worth of grant funding, council tax or business rate relief.
The Council has given 356 £500 grants to those affected, totalling £178k.
13 Rossendale businesses have benefited from a total of £52,200 Business Rate (NNDR) relief.

Awareness campaigns are being launched by councils nationwide to highlight the dangers of flash floods which can wreak havoc across communities in just minutes.
The Local Government Association (LGA), which represents more than 370 councils in England and Wales, is warning home owners and businesses at risk from flash flooding to be prepared.

The Bacup Townscape Heritage Initiative Project Phase 1 work is now moving towards being completed with over £400k of work on the Pioneer Building and Clock Tower on Rochdale Road and the RSPCA Building at 33 St James Street being successfully carried out.
Investment into the Pioneer Building has new shop fronts installed and new sash windows fitted.

Departments at the Council work together to get an elderly resident the support and care he required.
Residents in Bacup contacted the Council in relation to a neighbour in a terraced street who had been accumulating items in his garden for a number of years and it was deemed to be getting out of hand.

Lancashire County Council is asking people what they would like to see from new cycle routes being developed in Rossendale.
The routes will be part of the wider East Lancashire Strategic Cycleway Network, which aims to make it easier for people to access opportunities by improving links to workplaces, schools, shops and services.

Rossendale Borough Council’s Environmental Health Team has successfully worked with residents and neighbours of a property that was creating a serious public health issue.
The Council’s Environmental Health Team received reports of a leaking soil stack (see photo 1) at first floor level in a property. When an Environmental Health Officer visited there was toilet waste and tissue paper down the back wall of the house.

Members of the Rossendale Together Barnfield Partnership Board visited the New Hall Hey Retail Development to see how the new TK Maxx and M+S Foodhall stores were progressing.
The RTB Partnership sees Rossendale Council, Together Housing Group and Barnfield Construction working together and pooling resources to create a more prosperous borough.

Board members and Project Officers from the Bacup Townscape heritage Initiative (THI) will be in attendance at the Bacup Easter Festival on Saturday March 26th 10am till 3pm to present information on the scheme so far.
The team will be on Bacup Market with an information stall where people will be able to ask question about the work taking place in Bacup, the importance of heritage in Bacup and ways to get involved.
