Rossendale Business Awards are Open!

Nominations have opened for the 2016 Rossendale Business Awards, organised by Valley at Work.

The yearly business awards get bigger and better each time and people have until September 23rd to place their nomination.

The awards are to showcase the achievements, quality and diversity of the local businesses and enterprising people who make Rossendale such a great place to love, work and visit.

Community Column: Rossendale 60s Festival Window Dressing Competition

Organisers for the popular Rossendale 60s Festival are appealing to local business to get involved in this years festival by dressing their windows up “60s Style”.

The winners will be choosen by an independent judging panel on Saturday 10th September and will receive a prize and certificate to place in their winning window.

Rossendale climbing centre celebrated first birthday in style

Hundreds of people recently flocked to Rossendale to help celebrate Grip & Go’s first birthday.

The £275,000 climbing centre, which is based at the Adrenaline Centre in Haslingden, celebrated the milestone by hosting a first birthday party.

The Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Granville Morris, kicked off the celebrations by giving a welcome speech to visitors.

School’s Out For Summer Fun

Each year, Rossendale Council, as part of its role in the Children’s Trust, compiles a list of summer events for the Summer Fun brochure.

Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment Delight Crowds in Haslingden

Thousands of people lined the streets of Haslingden on Thursday July 21st to welcome the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment as they took part in a Freedom Parade to mark their Freedom of the Borough.

The Regiment were first granted the Freedom of Haslingden in 1964, this was then extended to Rossendale when we last had a parade in the Borough in June 2002, in Rawtenstall.

Spinning Point Gets Funding Seal

Plans for Rawtenstall’s new £5.4million Spinning Point masterplan have gone into top gear as funding was approved.

The Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) Board and Lancashire County Council (LCC) have now both formally approved the Rossendale Together Barnfield Partnership’s £1.9million bid to the Local Growth Fund and the £3.5million Lancashire County Council funding.

Rossendale Borough Council is delighted to officially announce that the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment will be parading through Haslingden next week for the Freedom of Rossendale celebrations.

The Freedom Parade will be taking place in Haslingden on Thursday, July 21st, 2016 to mark the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment Freedom of the Borough of Rossendale.

The Boo’s Puppet Festival Returns With Bumper Line Up

The Horse and Bamboo host their annual puppet festival from Thursday to Sunday this week (14th -17th July 2016).

The Puppet Festival is the showcase event for the internationally known “Boo” in Waterfoot and features shows for adults and children alike.

The 4 day event is packed full of wonderful events, there really is something for everyone, some of them are even free.

British Cycling Gets Wheels in Motion on New Routes Website

British Cycling’s Go Sky Ride now has a new routes website for budding cycling enthusiasts featuring a popular ride round Whitaker Park.

The new site features hundreds of cycle routes up and down the county which have all been accredited by British Cycling.

The site features the ride ‘Rossendale Vistas‘ which starts at Whitaker Park, this rolling route gives glorious vistas of the valley including Cowpe Lowe and Scout Moor.

Rossendale Cultural Arts Network (CAN) has been formed from like-minded groups and individuals who appreciate the wealth of visual and performing arts talent that exists within the Rossendale Valley. The main objective of Rossendale CAN is to identify, develop, showcase and promote all of the amazing arts groups that exist within the Valley, and encourage communication and collaboration between members.
