Council leader Councillor Alyson Barnes has welcomed news that Transport for the North are actively considering plans to restore Rossendale’s rail link.
At last night’s meeting (20th December) Rossendale Borough Council approved the sale of Rossendale Transport Limited (trading as Rosso) to Transdev Blazefield. The formal transfer will be completed in the next few weeks.
As part of the agreement, Transdev is planning to invest significantly in Rosso including spending in the region of £3 million on state-of-the-art new buses to be placed on the busiest routes to benefit the most people and the most communities.

The team gave out ten notices to drivers licensed by Rossendale for minor defects on their taxis and suspended four vehicles on the spot for serious defects including one which had a bald tyre.

Rosso held its first annual Long Service Awards Dinner at Sykeside Country Hotel, Haslingden, on Saturday 28 January 2017.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Rossendale. Cllr Granville Morris and his wife Susan were guests of honour and presented Long Service Certificates and gifts to 14 employees who between them have given a combined total of 400 years’ service to the Company and its predecessors.
Work will resume to create a major cycle route linking towns in East Lancashire following a consultation on what people would like to see from the routes being developed in Rossendale.
The East Lancashire Cycleway Network aims to transform cycling in the area, making it easier for people to use their bikes to access opportunities by improving links to workplaces, schools, shops and services.
