Nominations from community or voluntary groups in Rossendale are being sought for the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The award, described as an MBE for charities and community groups, recognises outstanding work done by groups in their own communities.

Any group doing volunteer work that provides a social, economic or environmental service to the local community can be nominated for the award.

Further details on how to nominate can be found here

The Mayor of Rossendale, Councillor Barbara Ashworth, said:

“Rossendale is home to lots of excellent groups who make valued contributions to their communities. I hope people put forward the groups which make a difference as they deserve recognition.”

Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of the Council, said:

“In these dark times, it is always important we celebrate those who make Rossendale a better place. Indeed, many groups have changed how they operate to respond to the challenges brought by this horrid disease. We have had a good track record of community groups from our borough receiving this accolade so I would urge people to put forward nominations.”
