STUNNING lanterns have been created and decorated in a series of workshops held for the Light Up The Valley parade.

On Saturday, October 28 at 6pm the colourful creations will be led in a parade from the mill at Toll Bar, Stacksteads, near the mini roundabout, along the banks of the River Irwell into The Glade.

It is the third lantern procession to been arranged by Stacksteads Countryside Park Group, SCPG, and has grown year-on-year.

This year’s event is managed by The Horse and Bamboo Theatre in Waterfoot and funded by Arts Council England, Rossendale Community Fund and the Rossendale Borough Council Neighbourhood Forum

Following the parade ‘The Boo’ is inviting people to enjoy a celebration with entertainment from the O’Gorman Brothers and a chance to see the lanterns up close.

Chair of SCPG Susan Hayhurst said:

The Light Up The Valley parade will be an amazing spectacle of colour and light and we are looking forward to welcoming hundreds of people from all over Rossendale into Stacksteads.

Musicians will accompany the parade and as people enjoy food at The Glade Blow Jangles will be performing. It will be a magical evening.

Lantern making workshops are being held in the run up to the event.

From Monday September 25 to Friday September 29, adults are invited to attend the free workshops from 10.30am to 3pm at Globe Studios, Toll Bar, Newchurch Road, Stacksteads.

Family sessions will be held at Globe Studios each weekend from October 7 to 22 from 10.30am to 3pm.
