Letters will be going out to those registered for postal voting as the annual refresh exercise takes place.
Those residents who chose to vote by post or proxy are required to provide a signature and date of birth when they first apply to prevent fraud and the possibility of someone else using your vote. An important part of the security measure is to provide a fresh specimen signature every 5 years to maintain accurate records. The postal vote signature refresh exercise is undertaken every January for records that have reached 5 years old.
If residents receive a signature refresh form they should sign and return it in the pre-paid envelope as soon as possible to reduce the need for reminder forms and their associated costs. Anyone who is unable to provide a signature or sign in a consistent way should contact the elections office (details below).
If absent voters don’t respond within 6 weeks of the date of the notice their postal or proxy vote will be cancelled and they will then have to vote in person at the polling station or make a new application for an absent vote.
