Rossendale Residents and Businesses Benefit from Flood Grant Funds

Since the terrible flooding that hit Rossendale on Boxing Day 2015 residents and businesses have benefited from thousands of pounds worth of grant funding, council tax or business rate relief.

The Council has given 356 £500 grants to those affected, totalling £178k.

13 Rossendale businesses have benefited from a total of £52,200 Business Rate (NNDR) relief.

We have received 155 applications for the Flood Resilience Grant, of which 97 have been approved totalling £327k of investment into flood prevention measures for our residents.

Lancashire County Council Boost grants to local business have approved 19 applications totalling £75,600.

The Community Foundation Lancashire has approved 26 applications totalling £40,800.

This is all vital investment into the flooding infrastructure of our residents and businesses.

Applications to the Flood Resilience Grant can still be made to Rossendale Borough Council.

Cllr Alyson Barnes, Leader of Rossendale Council said;

I really hope everyone takes up the opportunity to apply for a flood resilience grant. We saw how damaging flooding can be, these grants can go a long way to protecting properties.”
