Small grants make a big impact to Whitworth groups

Whitworth Community Partnership has since the beginning of 2022, awarded grants to three local groups allowing them to purchase goods they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.

Women of Whitworth (WoW) received £156, Whitworth in Bloom received £250, and The Ashcroft received £250.

The Whitworth Partnership which is managed by Rossendale Council and is made up of organisations such as Whitworth Town Council, Police, local residents and various community groups – can give grants of between £150 and £250 to groups that provide added value to residents of the borough.

Cllr Dayne Powell said: “These small independent groups are incredibly valuable and often fulfil a vital social, economic or cultural role within our communities and it’s important that they have access to funding and grants such as this.

“They may seem like quite small amounts but they can make a big difference to these groups and have a bigger impact on the wider community”

Funding is still available for small grants for projects in the Whitworth and the wider borough and applications can be made online at https://bit.ly/whitworthgrants
